Feminist Business & Marketing Strategy, Holistic Support

Because it’s never just marketing.

There are no secret magic marketing formulas.

Marketing feels hard, because it is hard. Not because you’re doing anything wrong, babe.

Attention competition is fierce. It’s not in your zone of genius. The media landscape is constantly changing.

Maybe it’s something softer, like traditional marketing doesn’t align with your values. You’ve been taught not to take up space or that talking about yourself and/or money is bad.

Or how about the cold hard fact that just putting yourself out there sometimes feels super fricking risky!

While I can never promise that marketing is going to be easy, it can be simple and effective.

It starts with your business foundations.

My name is Amanda Laird…

I am a feminist business advisor and marketing strategist.

I work with women entrepreneurs doing their own thing — running creative, service-based businesses (online and off), on their own terms, so they can do good work and live well.

I built Slow and Steady to bring almost 20 years of strategic communication and marketing experience to this often over-looked segment of entrepreneurs so we can realize a better world where we all thrive, together.

  • My session with Amanda was supportive and clarifying. I arrived wanting to review my marketing strategy and identify places to streamline, and she really helped me find a few key areas of focus, looking at what I could do more and less to achieve my goals. She's a wise and insightful guide whose advice is equally intuitive and strategic -- a blend I really appreciate. I highly recommend working with her! - Amelia Hruby, Softer Sounds Studio

  • The concept of marketing prior to working with Amanda felt like a messy, confusing, knotted up ball of yarn but after our meeting it felt like she had gone through and gently yet matter-of-factly untangled all that needed clarity for me and my business. Amanda provided a safe and comforting space for me to ask questions and think through my project, and even provided really great ideas that I'm excited to implement into my marketing plan. I left our session feeling both inspired and motivated. I can't wait to work with Amanda again! - Alexa Villanueva, Lexaluna Studio

  • Chatting with Amanda about marketing was like a deep exhale. After my first full year running my writing and editing business, I had collected some wins, but also a long list of marketing "shoulds." Instead of piling on to my to-do list, Amanda reflected and celebrated my instinct to focus on the long game of quality work and genuine relationship building. The conversation felt like finding the marker on the trail that reassures you, yes, you are going in the right direction! Not only that, but Amanda sent me on my way with warmth and humour and some energy-boosting nuggets of wisdom to fuel my next steps. I'm feeling fortified and excited to keep moving forward. - Malgosia Halliop, Malgosia Halliop Editorial

  • Amanda was an invaluable support to me on a recent project (setting up my online course on a new platform). In addition to handling the technical aspects, she answered my (many) questions, carefully tested everything, and provided thoughtful and strategic advice along the way. She was a pleasure to work with – so much so that I’ve asked her to support me on an ongoing basis! – and I’d highly recommend her. - Janet Nielsen, The Copy Curator
